Cree Cultural Connections
Feb 27, 2014 8:00 AM

In an effort to promote revitalization of the Cree language in the Fort McMurray Métis community, Cree Cultural Connections is a new annual spring program.

Cree Cultural Connections will run 10 classes from March 26th-May 21st in preparation for Métis Festival 2014, with a final class on May 28th.  The class will take place at Father Patrick Mercredi Community School (Room 244) from 4-5:30pm and is open to all members of the Fort McMurray Métis Local 1935.

It will be a chance for both Elders, youth and other community members to share their cultural connections, including both language, traditional arts and crafts, as well as music and dance. After the class is complete, they will be active volunteers in Métis Festival 2014, showcasing their cultural production through either a performance, facilitating a craft activity, or some other form of sharing language and cultural activities.
