McMurray Métis and Métis Nation of Alberta hold May membership drive

From May 19th to May 22nd McMurray Métis is holding a membership drive with the support of the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) Registry at the McMurray Métis Office on 441 Sakitawaw Trail. 

Métis in the Fort McMurray area are encouraged to join the MNA and become McMurray Métis members. Those who are already members of MNA can sign up to join the McMurray Métis any time as long as they provide photo ID and their MNA card.

MNA Registry officials will be available to assist with Métis membership applications and genealogy and any Métis interested in joining the MNA will need to provide the following:

- Current photo ID

- Genealogy/family tree information

- 2 passport sized photos

- Long form birth certificate or short form birth certificate with baptismal record.

Sessions will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm from Tuesday to Thursday and from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Friday. For more information about our membership drive please email  or call 780-743-2659. 

Founded in 1987, the McMurray Métis are governed under the bylaws of the Métis Nation of Alberta by an elected Local Council. The Local Council is accountable to the membership and its mandate is to pursue the advancement of the Métis people of Fort McMurray and northeastern Alberta. For more information please visit
