McMurray Métis Festival to be held on National Indigenous Peoples Day
Apr 2, 2019 6:00 AM

The McMurray Métis will hold its 10th annual Métis Festival on Friday June 21, the summer solstice, coinciding with National Indigenous Peoples Day.

In previous years, Métis Festival was held earlier in the Spring, however the Board of Directors of the McMurray Métis decided to move its Métis Festival to National Indigenous Peoples Day.

All residents of Fort McMurray, Indigenous or non, are welcome to attend our event from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on June 21, 2019, on our Métis grounds at 441 Sakitawaw Trail.

“As the largest Indigenous group based in Fort McMurray, it’s a natural fit that we host the most celebratory day of the calendar year for First Nations, Métis and Inuit across Canada. We’ll continue working with other community-based groups to organize and re-name ‘Métis Festival’ to make it the biggest and best National Indigenous Peoples Day in Fort McMurray’s history.”
