McMurray Métis will be hosting a membership drive with the support of the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) Registry Office.
Starting September 30th and ending on October 3rd, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, officials from the MNA’s Registry Office will be available to assist with membership applications and genealogy.
Métis in the Fort McMurray area are encouraged to join the MNA and become McMurray Métis members. Those who are already members of MNA can sign up to join the McMurray Métis at any time as long as they provide photo identification and their MNA card.
Any Métis interested in joining the Métis Nation of Alberta will need to provide the following:
- Current photo ID
- Genealogy/family tree information
- 2 passport sized photos
- Long form birth certificate or short form birth certificate with baptismal record.
Founded in 1987, the McMurray Métis are governed under the bylaws of the Métis Nation of Alberta by an elected local council. The local council is accountable to the membership and its mandate is to pursue the advancement of the Métis people of Fort McMurray and northeastern Alberta.
