McMurray Métis hosting 2015 Métis Festival this Friday

On Friday May 22 McMurray Métis will be hosting its' 6th Annual Métis Festival from 9:30am until 4:00pm as we celebrate Métis culture and history in Fort McMurray.

Métis Festival 2015 will be a full day of cultural entertainment with campfires, jigging, fiddling, games, and traditional Métis cuisine. This year’s event will feature award winning Métis artists, including the Métis Fiddler Quartet, Asham Stompers, Beverly Lambert, and the Kelsea Scout Band.

Parking is available at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre with a free shuttle service to the McMurray Métis Grounds at 441 Sakitawaw Trail. There is no onsite parking. This is a rain or shine event, so please dress comfortably for the occasion and the weather.

Founded in 1987, McMurray Métis are governed under the bylaws of the Métis Nation of Alberta by an elected Local Council. The Local Council is accountable to the membership and its mandate is to pursue the advancement of the Métis people of Fort McMurray and northeastern Alberta.
