McMurray Métis to Host 10th Annual Elders’ Christmas Gathering

McMurray Métis are proud to announce that its 10th Annual Elders’ Christmas Gathering will be taking place on December 4th, 2013 at the Sawridge Inn and Conference Centre with doors opening at 5:30p.m. The event is free to all Métis and First Nation Elders in the Wood Buffalo Region, as well as senior citizens in Fort McMurray, and will feature Sagkeeng’s Finest, the 2012 winners of Canada’s Got Talent.

“The Métis people place great cultural importance on honouring our Elders and this event is a time to thank them, lift their spirits, and give them an opportunity to socialize with friends and family” said Métis Local 1935 President James Dragon.

Elders can expect Christmas dinner, gifts, door prizes, a visit from Santa, and traditional Métis entertainment that will keep your toes tapping along to the beat. Sagkeeng’s Finest will be traveling all the way from Manitoba to show off their award winning jigging skills which are blended with contemporary dance moves.
